Hi, I'm Raj.
I'm a talent and people leader who started as a recruiter and never stopped thinking like one.
I began in agency recruiting, where I was named the Americas Rising Star at Hays and the No. 1 rookie recruiter in Canada at TEKsystems. In 2021 I joined Myplanet, now Orium, to lead recruitment and culture for a company of about 60 people. Over the next five years it grew to more than 300 at its peak, and my role grew with it: building and leading a team, partnering with executives on hiring and people strategy, leading the talent integration after an acquisition in Mexico, and taking on the operational side of people work, from vendors and systems to how managers are supported.
Recruiting still shapes how I lead. It taught me to listen for what people actually want, to be honest when the answer is no, and to care about what happens after someone says yes. Lately I've become very hands-on with systems and AI too, building tools my team runs every day, because the best way to see how work could be better is to rebuild it.
A lot of my work centres on:
- Connecting hiring and talent strategy to business priorities
- Helping leaders make better decisions about people, teams, and structure
- Building strong, globally distributed teams
- Turning employee feedback and people insights into meaningful change
- Supporting managers through AI adoption
I like building things that are useful, that people actually want to use, and that keep working when I'm not in the room.
My story
- 2018
Started in agency recruiting. Americas Rising Star at Hays within my first year, then the No. 1 rookie recruiter in Canada at TEKsystems.
- 2020
Finished a Master of Education focused on workplace learning, belonging, and DEIB, which still shapes how I approach culture and integration work.
- 2021
Joined Myplanet, now Orium, to lead recruitment and culture. Promoted twice in fifteen months.
- 2022 to now
Helped lead Talent and Culture through growth to more than 300 people at its peak, led a talent integration across two countries, and widened the role into people strategy, operations, and AI.
Outside work
I'm a dad of two and spend as much time outdoors as I can: skiing, hiking, and running. I've lived, worked, and travelled across 30+ countries, which shapes how I think about people, culture, and working across borders. Music is my main creative outlet. I sing, write songs, and play guitar, bass, drums, and piano, and I used to DJ.
